Pediatric Speech Therapy
Speech therapists are trained to evaluate and treat a variety of speech, voice, and language disorders. They provide evaluation and treatment of expressive and receptive language disorders, communication disorders (stuttering, voice problems, speech delay), articulation and phonological disorders, cognitive skills such as problem solving and reasoning, feeding and swallowing, oral motor skills, augmentative communication, and behavior management.
The educational background of a pediatric speech therapist includes extensive course work in anatomy, neurology, physiology, psychology, and child development.
